Off the Wall for Wal-Mart

I love to shop at Wal-Mart. I live with my girlfriend in a house that we picked out together and that she bought and is currently paying for. As part of this agreement, I work part-time, go to school and pay the groceries. School gets quite expensive, so it is important that I can buy cheap groceries. Wal-Mart makes this so easy for me, as not only do they have everything, but it is so cheap. The grocery bill usually comes out to about 110.00 at Wal-Mart; however, when I have to shop at a regular grocery store, the bill is closer to 150.00. This 40.00 adds up very quickly. Another great thing about Wal-Mart is that if I need other household items, I can find them all in the same place. I can’t think of a thing that Wal-Mart does not carry in some shape or form. Finally, the employees of Wal-Mart are usually quite enjoyable. Although there is the occasional crank or person who just does not want to be there, the majority of Wal-Mart’s workers take pride in their jobs. I do not know what I would do without Wal-Mart.

An Unexpected Pleasure

The shoreline at Palm Beach, New South Wales

Last week started out well enough. I packed for a quick trip to the Pacific Ocean where the annual family reunion was being held. So far, so good. After the reunion, on Saturday night, my siblings – all seven of them – threw me a surprise 40th birthday party. This was especially nice, as we were all together for a rare gathering of siblings. Driving home on Monday took the entire day, as I am a 10 hour drive from the ocean. On Tuesday, my daughter raked the radiator of my car over a cement guard, completely wrecking the thing. She’s not so great with vehicles. The next morning, my sister – who happens to be my roommate and is pregnant – had to rush with her husband to the hospital for some weird thing. Everything turned out alright, though, and she came home this morning. It’s been quite a week!

Today was Thursday

I have had a very busy week so today I slept late. I woke up about 9:45 am. I ate strawberry yogurt for breakfast and read the paper. Then I took a shower and washed my hair. My hair is very thick so I have to blow dry it. Today my blow dryer did not work so I had to try to shake it out. It is actually still damp. I had chick-fil-a for lunch – a chicken salad sandwich and fruit. I got to work about 12:30. There has been lots of confusion about the copier on the second floor so I color coded and numbered them. It makes it a lot easier to understand what does what. Then the day began to go downhill. I had 3 new student workers. One has already been working with my supervisor and she told me he was going to be a problem and he was. He just does not understand. The other 2 students weren’t so bad. Now I am goofing around on the computer and have 2 more hours of work left.

Puppies

Puppies will always try to bite something when their teeth is started to grow. So it is better to avoid any kind of playful activities with younger ones. If you give more importance to your beloved dog from his childhood, he will understand very well and he will try to cheat us rightfully for his own comforts and privileges. He will become used to be always hygienically. He will never step in or step down to wet places from their own dog beds or from our own cot especially during rainy season. Even if he wants to pass urine, I should take him on a dry place only. But according to my own experience, dog’s dresses are irrelevant to any kind of dogs. If you want to you make your dog as a joker, you can dress them. This is my own tendency. Dogs are always heroes in my family. So I never try to wear those dresses.

Hardcore Bollywood Music Lover

I’m going to be honest; I think a lot of people in the US (which I am from btw) don’t really even know what Bollywood is, but I LOVE it! I think the few people that DO know what it is think it’s a dumb genre of music but that still doesn’t stop me from loving it. I love bollywood music because it’s so ethnic and it always sounds so pretty. There are SOME songs that have a fast and loud beat but those ones to me are very energetic and fun! It seems like no matter WHAT mood I’m in bollywood is always one I’m fine listening to and it always calms me down. I’ve kind of started listening to bollywood ever since I was about 14 looked on the AOL Radio channels and saw one called “bollywood”. I wondered “What the heck is bollywood?” so I clicked on the channel to listen to it and I immediately fell in love with it. These days you don’t really get to hear or see much of the culture of India. I don’t know ANY people who go to my school that are Indian for example. So it’s really nice to hear even the music of India if I can’t be around someone with the Indian believes and culture. Bollywood music, by the way, is also known for being called “Hindi” in case anyone couldn’t ever seem to find enough bollywood music (like me).

The Shawshank Redemption

Andy Dufresne is a young, successful banker, who is sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife. Although he confesses his innocence, Dufresne is sent to Shawshank prison, where he befriends, Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding, also serving a life sentence for murder. The difference, Redding admits to his guilt, and is comfortable in his surroundings in prison. Dufresne refuses to accept his fate of spending the rest of his life in prison, and sets out a plan to break out. To do so, he must befriend a corrupt prison warden and captain, and forgive the women who he was found guilty of killing. Shawshank Redemption stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. It is based on a short story by Stephen King called, “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption,” and was nominated at the 1995 Oscar’s for Best Picture. The movie is a classic, and ranks as many people’s favorite movie of all-time. Including my own.

Percussion with Range

an electronic keyboard.

My favorite instrument is the piano. The main reason underlying my preference is the gut reaction I hear when I listen to piano music. Even when it is a small melody weaved into an already very good song, there is something special about the way a piano sounds. It is an extremely versatile instrument, at least in terms of the different styles of music that can be played on it, if not for its portability (or lack thereof). From classical to ragtime to rock and roll to jazz, from pop to organ music written for religious services, incredible, beautiful piano music has been written for them all. A piano player can also transfer piano skills to synthesizers and other electronic keyboard-based instruments, creating an entirely different range of sounds. Samples can be recorded and played as notes, for example, or multiple melodies can be layered over one another. A somber mood can be evoked with just a few taps on a key; the opposite can be achieved with some jaunty chords. All in all, the piano’s sound stirs emotions in me in a way that few other instruments do on a regular basis.

The dinner that made me thinner

Chicken soup

Last night I had a great meal at a local restaurant. I’ll start with the aperitif. A little caviar with some lemon and chips. After the aperitif, I called the waiter and asked for a chicken soup. It simply was delicious and very beneficial regarding the fact that I caught a cold and wanted to get rid of it. The main course consisted of steak and fresh spring vegetables, its called spring steak. The salad that came with the steak was very tasty and the vegetable were very fresh. It was a delicious meal in deed and it was worth it. I paid the bill offered my compliments to the chef and smiled at the waiter.

A Lifestyle of Mine

I have so many important things to do everyday. I make sure that all of these things were done at the end of the day. In order to memorize or familiarize it, so that I will never forget even one activity, I am putting all those things on what I called” Need to Do List”. The lists are numbered from one up to how many things need to be done. For example, cooking food in the morning is the first thing to do. Then it is followed by having a breakfast with the whole family and so on. Now, talking about what is really my lifestyle everyday or what are my routines, I start with saying a little prayer to God after I blink my eyes or open my eyes in the morning. After that, I fix my bed and making it clean. I fold my blankets and I arrange my pillows. Then, I cook our food, basically rice for breakfast. Cleaning the house is what I do next. I sweep the floor including outside the house. I arranged all what are messy inside the house. Then if everything is clean and the breakfast is ready, we will have breakfast. If there’s still remaining time for laundry, I do laundry and go to work after that.

Measure your dog’s neck to estimate her collar size

Hold the tape in the middle of your dog’s neck and measure the circumference from that point. Add 2″ to the result so you can purchase dog collars and leashes that are big enough to adjust. Select your collar. Modern dog collars come in all shapes and sizes, from rich leather to brightly colored flat webbing. Choose a collar that is sturdy enough to withstand wear and tear and will not bleed dye onto your dog’s coat. Place the collar around your dog’s neck. The collar should be wide enough to be comfortable, but not so large that the material will press into his neck while he performs everyday tasks like eating or drinking. Slide the free end of the collar through the fastening mechanism. Most collars have a buckle system to secure them around a dog’s neck, so be sure you place the secure end properly. Adjust the collar to the appropriate size and fasten the buckle. The collar should be tight enough that it does not fall off, but loose enough that your dog can move her head up and down and not choke while performing normal daily activities. Allow your dog to wear his new collar for a few hours and check to make sure that it is staying secure. Some materials stretch a little during wear, so readjust the collar as necessary to ensure proper fit.
