Purple Is My Favorite “Color”

There aren’t a whole lot of movies that actually move me. At the end of “Titanic”, I was just glad it was over. I didn’t think the “Pretty Woman” was all that good-looking. But “The Color Purple” made me sees life in a whole new way. The performances by brilliant actors such as Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover, and Oprah Winfrey were surprising. The script stayed true to the book, and the musical score is so memorable that I can still recall and sing parts of it 10 years after last seeing the movie. The whole production was well-directed, and that still isn’t what makes the movie so great. It’s the inspiration you feel from the determination and faith of the main character. It’s the outrage you feel at the situation of Oprah’s character. It’s the realization that this script depicts life in that time period pretty accurately. It’s what makes this movie life-changing good.

Why the Ivories Tickle Me

Yamaha electronic keyboard

My favorite instrument is the piano — digital keyboards as well as traditional pianos. A performer or composer has the complete palette of musical tonality and dynamics at his or her fingertips. As an accomplished performer, you can interpret a piece from the piano repertoire, improvise your own tune, or accompany musicians playing other instruments. The piano is also ideal for teaching the fundamentals of music, such as scales, harmony, notation, and rhythm. Beginners can learn to play on an inexpensive electronic keyboard. The ultimate experience for a pianist, however, is to play a concert grand piano. That will bring out the best in the pianist’s talent and training. Orchestras, smaller ensembles, choirs, and solo singers often rely on a piano to lead or accompany them.

Lunch is the main meal

I am not very fussy about what I get for dinner. Lunch is the main meal that I have. Yesterday my wife decided to give us a surprise. She had asked me to get a few ingredients from the market a day earlier. I was not sure what she was planning to make and I was unable to guess what she was planning to make. When I returned from office at 7 PM last night, being a Saturday evening, I had my large peg of Whisky as usual in the terrace and when my wife asked me to come down for dinner I was taken by surprise. She had cooked Chinese Dinner. She had made Mutton Sweet and Sour, Chicken Chow mien, Fried Rice and Chilly Chicken. I love to eat something sweet after dinner so she had ordered some ice cream. I really enjoyed the meal.

Getting My Dog Dressed in Dogs Clothes

YouTube Preview Image When we planned to get a dog, we weren’t sure about it initially. My kid insisted on having a dog as a birthday present, and we were left with no choice. Finally we bought a Doberman puppy for him and my kid was overjoyed. Getting a Doberman puppy was definitely the right decision as I always preferred getting a dog, which could guard my house. This puppy is really cute and spending time with him is so much fun. My kid enjoys every moment with him and takes good care of him. They share the same room and bed and have loads of fun throughout the day. My kid keeps grooming him a lot, though Doberman really need very less grooming. There are many beautiful dog clothes available nowadays which are designed to fit each breed and make them look stylish. I am sure dogs love to get dressed, as I see my dog very happy in such clothing, as it keeps him warm and safe, whenever we take him for a hike or a picnic. Check out this other article on dog gates as well as tons more on the web.

Closing the Case

The Closer
Image via Wikipedia

Can you tell from the title that my favorite TV show is ‘The Closer’? Well, that’s what it is! I think Kyra Sedgwick is a good actress and I like what you see and hear from her in real life – and by this I mean her marriage and her love for her children. All this has nothing to do with the TV show but it is what made me watch it in the first place and after that I was hooked! I really like the different relationships that Brenda Johnson has with her interesting and talented staff. Each member of the staff has a completely different relationship with her and yet they all seem to care deeply for her and protect her without making it look like they are. She has a very strong character and yet retains all of her femininity, which is a great tribute to the writing staff. It’s hard to find a strong female character on TV or in the movies that does not come across as shrill or demanding but instead is much like any woman in the workplace today. The clever way of getting a suspect who is not willing to confess is a joy to watch and each case presents a different approach to this end. It is tough to see how her dedication to her work does create so many problems in her personal life but I think that that is true in real life. One can’t be as tied up in one’s job without one’s personal life taking a hit. I wonder how this marriage is going to affect things. So far Fritz has been more than patient with Brenda but how long can we expect this to continue? This season having her real life daughter play her niece on the show was a bonus. It will be interesting to see if Brenda and Fritz have children and how they will fit into the mix. Love this show!

Pinnacle Mountain

The last freeze is often in March, but can be in early April. The first frost is usually in November. Spring is cool, but there are weeks when the flowers and shrubs bloom beautiful colors. Summer can be hot, with some summers containing a few weeks over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit, but the fall comes shortly after. It is possible to see bright fall foliage in and around Little Rock. Little Rock is far enough south those cannas, amaryllis and other plants can be over wintered in the ground. Arkansas is named the Natural State for good reason, and plenty of outdoor activities are available in Little Rock, enabling residents and visitors to enjoy nature and geology while hiking, biking or walking in clean air. Neighborhoods are pretty, and restaurants and activities can be found easily. Many beautiful plants can be grown and enjoyed. The city is pleasant for fun and relaxation.

In times of Weakness you find your true Strengths

If you had asked me when I was in my 20’s what my strengths were I would probably have mentioned that I was intelligent, had achieved a lot in college and that I was very competitive. Nowadays I feel lucky to have been able to see my true strengths which really only come to the forefront in times of need. After being diagnosed with a serious long-term illness I was forced to drop out of my career and reprioritize my life. Now I realize my real innate strengths are my ability to see the joy in small everyday things, empathy and determination. I am glad that my life did not turn out the way it was heading before my illness. I feel mentally stronger than at any other time in my life now and I truly appreciate the inner strength that we are born with that helps us to wake up each day with an optimistic smile. I believe most of us go through our lives without realizing what amazing strengths we have been born with.
