Key West Day Trip

My wife and I visited Key West this last June for a day trip. Now, June is not exactly the ideal time to have a vacation in Key West, Florida since the heat and humidity are nearly unbearable during the day. We stayed for a day and a night at the Holiday Inn, which was the most lavish accommodation in the world, but it was clean and neat. During the day we walked around Duval Street and went on a tour at the Hemingway House. Duval Street was filled with liquor soaked tourists, even at two o’clock in the afternoon. My favorite part of our stay in Key West was the tour that we took at the Hemingway House, which is covered with the cost of admission into Ernest Hemingway’s former home. I work as a high school English teacher and the guide was able to fill in many of the holes in my mind regarding Hemingway’s life. That night we went on a walking ghost tour. The heat was difficult even at night, but the tour was entertaining. Key West has many different ghost tours and from what I noticed they all appeared to be very similar. If you like very cheap alcoholic beverages and an old town with a rich past, you would most likely enjoy Key West.
