A Very American Meal

- Image via Wikipedia
Dinner last night was a traditional summertime affair, shared with the family around the kitchen table. The main dish was a “slider”, a miniature hamburger made with freshly ground beef. The little burger, resting in a miniature hamburger bun, was topped with white cheddar cheese and onion, and then dressed with ketchup and mustard. On the side there were oven baked French fries, dusted with just a touch of rosemary. The ever popular ketchup and barbecue sauce were available for dipping. Finally, there was a nice tossed green salad, topped with feta cheese, and dressed with that old standby, home made Thousand Island. What to drink with this oh so American meal? Why Coke of course, nice and cold, right out of the can. Can you imagine a better feast for a hot August night? The only way to improve such a meal would be with the addition of a big slice of warm apple pie.
